We were at an unofficial obedience contest with Gizmo today in Mäntsälä. Reinforcing the dog during the contest was allowed but would lower the score, so I used some with her since we haven't really been training the whole winter. It went really well.

First there was sit for examination which went really well for us. Gizmo didn't try to scare the judge away or anything. She was a bit tense but basically did great, so we got a full 10 scores from it.

Second excercise is group long sit for 2 minutes, I stayed a bit closed to Gizmo than the rest of the dogs, as I wasn't sure how well she would behave. She shows some aggression towards other dogs at times so the last thing I wanted was her to jump on anyone else there. The excercise went well though until right at the end when she sat. If she would of stayed down for 5 more seconds the judge would of asked us to return to the dog and we would have succeeded. :) We did get 8 points from it however.

Next it was time for heel on leash and heel off leash. I thik her heeling position was very bad, she would stay a bit behind me, but the judge said it was goos. I also had to repeat the que a few times so she would keep up so that lowered the points a bit. We got 8 from bot hheelings, though the judge said if she could give us 8½ from the heeling off leash then she would of. I guess it didn't go as bad as I thought it did.

After heeling it was time for walking down, which she did really well though she was wet. I thought she wouldn't drop so I left her very carefully and watched behind me after the que, which lowered the points. It was for nothing as she dropped right on que and stayed there. We got 9 points thanks to me. ^^

Next ecercise was recall. She first didn't stay behind but though it was heeling so I had to tell her to sit again. After that everything went well and we got 9 points.

The seventh ecercise was walking stand. This is something that sometimes goes well then at other times fails completely. This time it went pretty well except she took some steps after the que. That's something she usually doesn't do, when I glanced at her she luckily stopped before I had to give another que. So we got 8 points from this aswell.

The last excercise is high jump, which she did better than I expected. I did use hand signal though and quite a big one too. We got 8 points.

Overall impression was 9 points, the judge said thet she though Gizmo listened to me well and was very eager to work with me. With less cheerleading we would of probably got 10.
Overall points after coefficient were 168 points, giving us a first prize! :) We didn't place in top 4 though, but there was 28 dogs and we did way better than average.
